Radiant heat.

So, really, the best part about my birthday yesterday was that Tom and I got the official word that the apartment we looked at last weekend is ours! We’re both thrilled and signing the lease on Saturday, with the 18th as our move-in date. It’s in the Northwest/aka, Nob Hill/aka, Alphabet District neighborhood of downtown (with some interesting Simpsons Trivia). The best part is that we get both south and west facing windows (a premium in this city!), meaning we’ll get morning and afternoon light, and they have something called “radiant heat,” which is basically steam pipes all throughout the floors to keep the places warm in the winter. Which is very nice. Our current place was frozen this entire winter, and we still paid $170 a month in heating bills! It’s less than a 10 minute walk to the train, it’s 5 blocks from the Portland Streetcar, and it’s on about 5 bus routes, compared to the single bus route we live on now, with no other transit options nearby. I’ve attached some pictures, and we’re always welcoming visitors!

Our unit is the second one above the black truck, with the blinds raised.

  1. It looks super lovely! 🙂

  2. It looks great. I’ll be moving into two new places very soon. One in Denver, one in Grand Junction…It’s pretty exciting!
